The Specialist Referral Clinic (SRC) and the Cambie Surgery Centre have been assisting patients from out of Province with booking consults and surgery for over 20 years. Our experience with patients traveling for surgery has allowed us to provide patients with a seamless process and a superlative health care experience. We can facilitate a virtual consultation to start and then provide the in-person surgical assessment and surgery in the same visit. This will minimize travel and time commitments as well as make the process of safe and quality care more convenient.
Timely access to surgery may enhance patients’ quality of life by allowing improved function and mobility, decrease pain and suffering, and return to usual activities as soon as possible.

Our spine team consists of 3 fellowship trained specialists each specializing in a specific component of back pain.

Ensuring you are fit for surgery is our main priority
Same-visit surgery may be accommodated for the following surgeries if you are deemed medially fit and the proposed surgery is an approved surgery: shoulder, knee, hand wrist, hernia and elbow patients.
More complicated cases like spine and foot and ankle may require two separate visits.
Please note on occasion a consultation with anaesthesia may be necessary for complicated medical histories to determine if we are able to proceed with the surgery as some restrictions do apply.
Getting Started is Easy
The SRC will assist you in making all the necessary arrangements for your assessment and your surgery at the Cambie Surgery Centre.
Prior to booking an appointment it is necessary to have your medical information and any imaging reports reviewed by the treating surgeon to determine if you are a candidate for surgery in a private setting.
Assessments often start virtually. Once cleared, your in-person assessment and surgery will be booked in the same trip. On occasion a two-trip process may be necessary. For more details please complete the contact form and a patient coordinator will be delighted to assist you.
